Bonjour Beautifuls!
Happy FBF!
I finally re-styled my funky chandelier.
I considered olive branches . . . but that would have required an expenditure of around fifty dollars or more. I thought about clipping my collection of vintage French menus back onto it . . . but that’s been done so many times before. I kept telling myself . . . “It’s got to be something . . . french and fun.“
Then a light came on! “I have that broken copy of The Cook’s Atlier . . . “ The first copy arrived damaged. It was replaced. They said it was not necessary to return the damaged copy. It turns out the misfortune became a gift of art play. If you have the book . . . you know it is pure French living bliss!
I have been trying to use my collection of decorating books more often as resources for inspiration. ( I am embarrassed to admit, I buy a book, and sometimes forget about it.) I remembered Karianne’s leaf templates . . . Sure, I know how to draw a leaf and make a template . . . but why the heck do it when Karianne Wood has already made the templates for me in the back of her book, The DIY Home Planner.
With templates ready, I went to work making leaves from the leaves of the beautiful book. My original intention was to only use the photographs. As I began choosing and clipping photos, the words began to capture my attention.
I know every picture tells a story . . . but words make it poetry.
” . . . welcome the crisp chill . . . bundle up in our sweaters . . . “
“. . . Marcel Proust . . . baked . . . warm Madeleines . . .”
Mind you, I was at the table, under the chandelier, making . . . when another light came on! (Please excuse the pun.)
“Beads, Lynne.”
Beads!
Inspired by all the beaded chandeliers on Instagram . . .
( The beauties above can be found here and here. )
. . . to Michaels I went . . . lucky me . . . the beads were on sale. I chose natural wood of various sizes so I could graduate the beads.
I am quite happy I followed my whim.
Voila!
French and Fun!
Not perfect . . . nor fitting for every home, but my French bread version makes its own little (au couture) statement, fashioned with love from a couple of boxes of wooden beads and a broken book.
Have a best-blessed week!
À vendredi!

LOVE it all! I clearly remember voting for you to keep your funky chandelier. So glad you did.
Just stopped by to wish you and your dears a healthy and WONDERful 2019, and to thank you for all your inspiration and encouragement throughout my blogging years. Yours is still one in a very “petite” handful of sweet journals I still like to flip through at least once or twice a week.
Thank you, L.
Love and blessings.
